Dutch is the official language in the Netherlands and is one of the official languages in Belgium. It is also spoken in Suriname and the island states Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the former Netherlands Antilles). To this day they still form part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In Belgium the Dutch language is mostly spoken in the region of Flanders and in Brussels (de Nederlandse Taalunie, online source consulted on 26 September 2018).
The Netherlands has been my main home base for more than ten years. I work there since 2008.
